"What does a man who lives only for music do when faced with his own aging and illness? What does a young man do in the presence of greatness? Where is the line drawn between passion and survival?"

The Spokane International Film Festival kicks off the season with the multi-award winning jazz film 'Round Midnight, starring tenor sax great Dexter Gordon. 'Round Midnight is the moving story of an expatriate black jazz musician and his struggle to create the bebop sound in 1959 Paris. Gordon is sensational in the lead role, earning him an Academy Award nomination. Herbie Hancock, who appears in the film, won an Academy Award for his musical score. Director Bertrand Tavernier beautifully captures the many joys and sorrows that encompass the jazz world.

This fundraising event directs all proceeds to the Spokane International Film Festival.

Your support enables us to continue to bring the best films, shorts and documentaries from around the world right here to Spokane.
